Race

A person’s ‘racial group’ is defined as a group of persons defined by reference to race, colour, nationality (including citizenship) or ethnic or national origins.

This includes Gypsies and Travellers, refugees, asylum seekers and others from less visible minorities.

A person could be a victim of a racist hate incident if they are called names associated with a racial group or being told to go back to their own country. An individual may also feel that they have been discriminated against because they belong to a minority group.
