Religion or Faith

Any group of people can be defined with reference to their religious belief or lack of religious belief. For example, this would include Muslims, Hindus and Christians, and different sects within these religions – as well as people with no religious belief at all.

A person could be a victim of a religious hate incident if they are singled out or targeted because the perpetrator assumed to know their religion by the clothing they were wearing and makes derogatory comments as a result.

Criminal damage caused to religious buildings or symbols associated with religious groups daubed on walls, fences etc may be seen as a religious hate crime.
